Be The Light That Reveals

Be The Light That Reveals (18 July 2008)

Luke 2:30-32

“For my eyes have seen Your salvation which You have prepared before the face of all people, a light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel.”

Alleluia! Thank you Lord for your Light that you have given to us. And Lord we know that your light never fails to illuminate every corner, every thought and every motive. In You there is no darkness for You are the bright morning Star that pierce through every single soul. So even as we study Your word, may the same anointing come upon us that we might be the light that brings about restoration of Your purpose in every social order. So I pray for Your wisdom and grace to fill us as we are being led by the Spirit in the name of Jesus. Amen!

The Boy Jesus Amazes the Scholars

Let’s turn to Luke 2:42

“And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast.”

Even at a tender age, Jesus had already gone to Jerusalem. This speaks of a different realm, a different dimension, a totally different encounter. Similar we need to enter into God’s effective ways of bringing change regardless of our age. Do not despise your youth.

And in Luke 2:46-47

“Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.”

One of the ways to be an effective change agent is to be an effective communicator. Communication is the key to everything in life. The bible says that life and death lie in the power of the tongue. Yes the ability to speak well is of paramount to your establishment of values and beliefs. What is communication? To many of us, it is talking at someone, to others it is hearing someone out. But the truth of the matter is, communication is rarely a one sided approach. Communication is asking probing questions and being attentive in listening and catching any verbal as well as non-verbal underlying message. Communication is also about being open in hearing the person out before commenting. Communication is about flowing in the spirit as we strike a conversation with others.

When we do that, the bible says in Luke 2:52

“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”

Thus let us communicate as a light that reveals and as a light that pierce through every traditional paradigm that will bring about a real change in the lives of others. Remember that for you to penetrate through the darkness, you must be the light that reveals.

Series of Luke

Not Us But God 17 July 2008

Luke 1:13

"But the angel said to him,"Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.

Alleluia! Thank you Lord for hearing all our prayers. And we know that we do not need to be afraid of what's ahead for we know that You are with us through and through. Your provision is sufficient for the calling that You have given to us. Fear, I rebuke you in the name of Jesus. Amen!

Christ's Birth Announced to Virgin Mary

Let’s turn to Luke 1:30-33

"Then the angel said to her,"Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. "And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. "He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. "And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”

Just in this conversation alone, the angel has to assure the virgin Mary 6 times that she will conceive. It is not just an idea, definitely not just another good idea, but rather God's master plan to bring salvation to mankind. The angel has even painted to Mary the wonderful and overflowing of God’s dividends and benefits that would come with this conception of God's plan and purpose.

But in Luke 1:34-35

“Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.

Yet Mary is still fearful of being in such partnership with God. Out of her human’s limited perspective, Mary asked: “How can this be?” She cried: “Impossible! This is an absolute mission impossible!” Then the angel had to lead and redirect Mary’s perspective toward God. God is not a God of distance. He will not just give us His vision without His provision, for He is God our Provider. He is Jehovah Jireh. In reply, the angel assuredly assured Mary for the 7th time, “The Holy Spirit will … …” Yes finally she is completely assured and convinced that it is not who she is, it is not what she have, it is not about man, but it is all about God, it is all about who He is and what He will do through man’s partnership. It is all about the will of God. Yet it will only come through man’s partnership.

Yes maybe God has in his time and season spoken to us through various ways that we will be the overcomer of our circumstance, that we will be prosperous, and that we will do many great and mighty things, to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth for Jesus. But many times doubts and fear would creep in unknowingly and we start asking how can this be? BUT BUT BUT God is above all. Lets understand that it is not us but God who is the master Creator of all.

May God's Grace Abound & Overflow in Us
